I cannot help, if I do not understand what you want to achieve?
I fully appreciate that in any business, there is an inevitable level of trust that needs to be earned before certain information can be exchanged. NDA's, NCA's can all be signed and endorsed as standard of course, but I need my clients to treat me as much as possible, like a part of their development team.
I don't need proprietary data or anything intellectual property wise... But I do need to understand your dreams, and your vision on where you want your business to be in 5-10 years. If that timeline is too far off for you, then you cannot possibly hope to be talking the to right connectivity partners from the outset. You must have a long term vision when adopting a long term partner.
IoT Connectivity is not the same as choosing a cellphone vendor, deployed and dispersed fleets of sims, or devices embedded underground, or in inaccessible places are not easy to replace. This decision, perhaps the one you are contemplating right now? Needs to be 100% the right one.
What do you want to do?
Many business decisions in IoT are based upon the technology that's available at the time. This makes logical sense. But if accommodation is not made for the future, or where your product or service would like to be in 5-10 years, then you are facing a potentially catastrophic situation down the line. Just ask the businesses with millions of M2M devices sitting on 2G.
Build for what you can do now, plan for what you'd like to do soon, but above all else, have an idea on what your utopia solution looks like. There are many developments happening as we speak that you will not be aware of. Many that could fulfil these dreams and enable your business to truly flourish. But whist you are busy running your business, how can you realistically be expected to follow the developments of this technology as thoroughly as possible? The answer is, you can't. But I can.
